Request for Authorisation to Work
Request for Authorisation to Work (Permits to Work) must be completed and signed by all occupiers for works carried out within their offices. There are three separate permits:
Minor Works Permit
This permit is to be used for minor works only: -
Permitted works include maintenance of office equipment, i.e. photocopiers, telecoms equipment, furniture assembly and relocation, cleaning, etc; within the occupiers own demised area.
APPENDIX A/1
PART 1 For works within
occupiers’ offices only and for works on occupiers’ equipment which does not
require access to landlord’s areas, risers, etc and does not involve
modification of fixed services, i.e.: water supplies/electrical
installation/partitions, etc.
PART 2 To be completed by Building Management for works involving access outside occupier’s demise, modification of fixed services, etc, local authority and/or landlords permits.
APPENDIX A/2
PART 3 Special works: (Hot Works – works to fire alarms, fire detection systems). This form is available from the Building Management office only.
All the above permits must be signed by the occupier and approved/countersigned by Building Management.
Attached is a copy of the “Landlords Requirements of Contractors during Fitting out Works”. All contractors are expected to follow the guidelines as set out.
24 hrs notice must be given to building management of all proposed works, particularly to works involving fire alarm/fire protection services to ensure Norland, the site M & E engineers, have isolated the areas of work.
Norland must be notified by the occupier/contractor when special works under a Part 3 permit are due to commence, and on completion, so that isolation and de-isolation can be arranged. This will avoid the risk of fire alarms being activated and disruption being caused to the building and other occupiers.
Occupiers are responsible for their contractors working within their offices and any of the common areas of the building and should ensure all safety precautions are adhered to.
Method statements and risk assessments should be obtained from the contractor before works commence. Occupier’s contractors must be advised of the building’s fire evacuation drill in the event of an emergency.
